Professor will participate in democracy panel

Kevin R. Kemper will participate in Access Tucson's annual "Building Free Speech" live panel discussion Thursday, April 12, at 6 p.m. The topic is "Protecting the Future of Media Democracy."

Kemper teaches Law of the Press, among other courses, and is working on a juris doctorate at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. He currently attends the UA James E. Rogers College of Law as a visiting student. Kemper has worked in communications for more than 20 years, including time as a reporter and free-lance writer for various publications.

Other panel members are: Michael Chihak, editor/publisher of the Tucson Citizen; Karin Uhlich, Tucson City Council Member, Ward 3; and Michael Mulcahy, an Arizona-based film and video maker whose work focuses on the complex intersection of private choices within the realm of public society. The moderator is Cynthia Dickstein, a freelance writer published most frequently in the Boston Globe.

The program will be broadcast on Cox Cable Cannel 99 and Comcast Channel 74.
