Faculty Kudos - Week of Oct. 1, 2007

The Tucson Citizen took two first place awards in the overall newspaper categories in Division 5, newspapers with a circulation of more than 25,000, at the Arizona Newspapers Association annual competition Sept. 22. The awards, in the areas of news and copywriting excellence and page design excellence, area areas overseen by Gawain Douglas, senior editor for presentation.

More than 100 people attended a reception Sept. 28 in honor of Alan Weisman's latest book, The World Without Us. Weisman also signed copies of his bestselling book and gave a talk at the UA Bookstore. See the video here.

Student Kudos

A journalism student also did well at the ANA competition. Candace Begody placed second in the best sports beat coverage category for a story she wrote while working at the Navajo Times in Window Rock.
