Faculty Kudos - Week of March 10, 2008David Cuillier is one of five finalists for the University of Arizona Five Star Faculty Award, the only university teaching award nominated and selected by students. First awarded in 1983, the award is sponsored by the Honors College and is based on student observations, interviews, course syllabi and other instructor materials. Jeannine Relly was a finalist for the award in 2007.The World Without Us, written by Alan Weisman has been named a finalist for the 2008 Orion Book Award. The list of the top five nominees was announced March 14. The winner will be announced April 1. Adjunct instructor Glenn Weyant will be chairing a panel at the Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies 55th Annual Conference April 9-12, hosted by Northern Arizona University. Weyant will also present his internationally recognized work with The Anta Project (www.sonicanta.com), border art and narrative. He will chair the panel on "Borders, Fences, and Immigration Policies." Maggy Zanger wrote an opinion piece for the March 9 issue of the Arizona Daily Star on "Turks aim to keep Kurds at precipice."
