Faculty Kudos of the Week - April 3, 2006

Celeste González de Bustamante turned in her dissertation to her committee members this week and is scheduled to defend on April 13. Good luck, Celeste!

KOLD-TV News 13 interviewed Mort Rosenblum for his expertise on international water issues as part of coverage of the panel discussion co-sponsored by Journalism and the Center for Latin American Studies April 3. Mort was one of the four panelists.

"Earth Without People," an essay by laureate associate professor Alan Weisman that appeared in the February 2005 issue of Discover Magazine, has been selected for The Best American Science Writing 2006, to be published in September by Ecco/HarperCollins and Perennial. His forthcoming book, The World Without Us, based on this piece, will be published in 2007 by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin's Press.

Maggy Zanger's Fulbright-Hays proposal to begin the Study in Cairo program has been funded. The project will enable her to take a group of students to Egypt to study Arabic and work on reporting projects.
