Faculty Kudos - Week of April 7, 2008

Linda Lumsden received a $2,000 SBSRI Small Grant to conduct research at New York University. The grant paid for lodging two nights in New York in March and will fund another week or research this summer. She is reading The Call and other socialist newspapers as part of her work on the role of the radical press 1900-1920.

Elena Stauffer's story on the journalism department reopening its graduate program appeared in the April 7 issue of Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine.

Alan Weisman discussed his book The World Without Us at Biosphere 2 April 5.

Student Kudos

Fayana Richards has been awarded an AAAS Minority Science Writers Internship. She will spend 10 weeks this summer in Washington, D.C., as an intern with Science magazine, a journal published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She is working this semester as an apprentice at the Arizona Daily Star.

Alyson Van Dyke was awarded a summer internship at the Scranton Times-Tribune.
