Faculty Kudos Week of April 9, 2007The staff of the Department of Journalism collectively won the 2007 Staff Award for Excellence from the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The department's faculty nominated the staff for the unusual honor, which normally is awarded to just one staff person. Bestowing the honor on an entire department was a first for the College. Honored were: Lisa Button, Kate Harrison, Matt Helms, Dorothy Hemmo, Paul Johnson, Phil Nopper, Michael Tearne and April Thompson. They'll be honored at the April 25 SBS Awards Luncheon.On April 5, Celeste González de Bustamante was in San Jose at the National Association of Chicana and Chicano Studies annual conference presenting a paper entitled "'Aliens,' Agents, and Activists: How Tucson Television News Helped Shape Public Opinion about Undocumented Immigration, 1977-1981." Susan Knight was recognized by the Mortar Board Senior Honor Society as an outstanding faculty member at the University of Arizona for 2006-07. The award states, "This honor represents the dedication and impact that will continue to be of influence far beyond our college experience." UA Journalism News Home
