Kevin R. Kemper is second author with Edward L. Carter, Anesha Brown, and James Philips of Brigham Young University on an article that has been accepted for publication in a forthcoming issue of Communication Law & Policy. The article, entitled “Executing the Powers With Which It Is Intrusted”: Justifications, Definitions and Limitations of Government Speech,” looks at recent court decisions that have refined the definition of government speech, one of Kemper’s primary areas of research.
Linda Lumsden had a paper entitled “STRIKING IMAGES: Visual Rhetoric in the Radical Press, 1908-1917” accepted for presentation at the 2009 American Journalism Historians Association’s convention in October in Birmingham, Ala.
Mort Rosenblum, who edits the journal Dispatches with colleague Gary Knight, is receiving kudos on the publication. The International Herald Tribune called it "A Magazine Worth the Price" on its front page. And Lens, a popular blog of The New York Times, called Dispatches “an audacious undertaking, beautifully produced, visually sophisticated and intellectually stimulating.”
