Faculty Kudos - Week of Sept. 21, 2009

David Cuillier spoke about strategies for accessing public records to a group of about 40 Arizona journalists at the Arizona Press Club fall workshop Sept. 19 in Flagstaff.

The work Glenn Weyant has been doing with The Anta Project is being featured in a newly issued middle school scholastic text by Voyager titled: Passport Reading Journeys III. The Anta Project, according to its Web site, is an enhanced sound collage compiled from covert performances utilizing implements of mass percussion and a cello bow to play the steel wall, barbed wire fences and assorted ephemera that separates the United States from Mexico.

Maggy Zanger moderated discussion at the workshop “Writing for the Media: Helping the Public Understand the Middle East and Islamic World” held Sept. 25 at the Marriott University Park. Panelists included Sarah Garrecht Gassen, adjunct professor. The workshop was sponsored by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the School of Journalism.
