Journalism professor gives talk on refined government speech doctrineKevin Kemper will give a talk at the School of Information Resources and Library Science's Research Brown Bag Series at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the SIRLS multipurpose room, 1515 E. First St. His topic is "Garcetti v. Ceballos & Morse v. Frederick: How Refined Government Speech Doctrine Could Impact Academic Freedom at Public Colleges and Universities." Kemper is the first person to graduate from the new joint Ph.D. journalism/J.D. degrees program at the University of Missouri's Schools of Journalism and Law. He finished the Ph.D. in Spring 2006, and then finished the J.D. in May 2007 after being a visiting student at the University of Arizona's James E. Rogers College of Law.
