The Valley News Photo Internship

About the Internship

The photo intern works with the newspaper's two staff photographers and photo editor, covering a range of assignments and enterprise work. The intern is treated as an equal in the newsroom. Interns are expected to be out of the office to find stories, as the rest of the photography staff does. This is where community journalism thrives, an invaluable learning experience whether newspapers are in the photographer's future or not. Those who do well are self-starters and have the curiosity to tell stories through the eyes of the area's residents. Photographers also produce long-term projects.
