About the Fellowships

We offer eight-month-long fellowships focused on reportingvideogadgetsfact-checking, and photography. All jobs are located at WIRED’s editorial headquarters in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood and pay $20/hour for 35 hours of work per week.

Applicants must be pursuing journalism as a career and have experience working in a deadline-oriented environment. You should also be enthusiastic, be highly organized, and have a demonstrable interest in technology. Our fellowships are full time and therefore not appropriate for matriculated students.

The editorial fellow, reporting, writes, researches, and provides editorial support for WIRED.com. This position is best suited to college graduates with prior professional reporting and writing experience on national affairs issues, cultural trends, science, or the business of tech.

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate is creative, curious, eager, and smart. Candidates should be capable of writing competently and quickly as well as identifying and reaching out to primary sources. Responsibilities include pitching ideas and writing stories for WIRED.com. The reporting fellow also helps generate ideas and contributes research and reporting to writers.

Experience with web content management systems is preferred.

Benefits & Compensations

  • The pay: $20 per hour, 35 hours per week.
  • The hours: 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Fellows are eligible for sick days and health care benefits.
  • The employer does not sponsor visas for this position.
