Elena Chabolla Stauffer left the Arizona Daily Star in June 2005 and in the fall she began her first year teaching Editing in the department. She also is doing some freelance writing for the Star.
A 1989 UA journalism graduate, Stauffer came to the Star in 2000 as a copy editor and rose through the ranks to assistant features editor. She also held copy editor positions at the Tucson Citizen and the Akron Beacon Journal. At the Journal, Stauffer was part of a team that worked on a project exploring race issues that won the paper the Pulitzer Prize for Community Journalism in the mid-1990s.
