PEOPLE: JANE SEE WHITEOffice: Marshall 347 E-mail - jswhite@email.arizona.edu Jane See White is an assistant news editor on the night copy desk at the Arizona Daily Star. She was assistant managing editor for administration of the Arizona Republic from late 1995 until May 1997 and also served briefly as the paper's writing coach. She joined Phoenix Newspapers in 1991 as an assistant city editor. In 1994, she was named features editor of the Republic. White left the Republic in 1997 for Tucson, where she has been working as a freelance writer and teaching writing and reporting classes at the UA and Pima Community College. She began her career at the Roanoke (Va.) Times as a reporter in 1972. She spent time at the Kansas City Star before joining The Associated Press in New York City as a world desk editor in 1976. She moved to AP's New York City Bureau in 1977, and was named one of six New York City-based national writers in 1978. After leaving the AP in 1981, White was a senior writer and then an editor at Medical Economics Magazine. In 1987, she returned to the Roanoke Times as an assistant city editor before being promoted to city editor. In 1991 she joined Phoenix Newspapers. |
