Jay Rochlin joined the journalism department in fall 2006 as an assistant professor of practice. He had previously taught an advanced photojournalism course and a practicum for photojournalism seniors as an adjunct.

Rochlin spent 21 years with the UA Alumni Association. There, he served as associate director and editor of the 190,000 circulation Arizona Alumnus magazine, and was responsible for the Association's Web site and its electronic newsletter.

Before joining the Alumni Association, he spent seven years in television: as an assignment editor at KVOA and part of the production team at KGUN.

Rochlin is the author of Race and Class on Campus: Conversations with Ricardo's Daughter (UA Press, 1997). He also has published three books about early bicycling. His photographs have been exhibited in numerous Arizona venues and published in various magazines and newspapers.

Rochlin is a three-time UA graduate, holding a bachelor's in secondary education and journalism, an MBA, and a doctorate in higher education. In fall 2006, he will teach Feature Writing, Advanced Photojournalism and Online Journalism.
