Michael Tearne joins the journalism team after working with admissions in the Office of Student Affairs at the UA College of Nursing for a year and a half.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Northern Arizona University and is currently working on a master's in education from NAU. He plans to graduate in December 2006.

Before coming to the University of Arizona, Tearne held a variety of positions including research assistant at Northern Arizona University, counselor assistant at a home for women with eating disorders and restaurant manager at a Tucson Resort.

As an academic advisor, Tearne will help students form a plan of study, navigate the university system and make the most of their educational experience.

Students with questions about the major are welcome during walk-in advising hours or by appointment.
