  • Areas of interest: Nexus between the protection of classified information – specifically over-classification - and the public’s right-to-know.
  • Undergrad Degree: Digital Journalism and Media, Penn State.
  • Background/goals: I retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years as an active duty Marine. The last several years of my Marine Corps experience exposed me to the highest levels of decision-making in the Department of Defense, and how the public interest and strategic needs sometimes collide. As a strategic communications lead within a federal agency, I push to communicate as much as legally and ethically allowed.
  • Why UA: I knew the Studies of Global Media program at the University of Arizona was the right place for me when I saw the wide range of topics and the flexibility that the program provides to truly focus on topics that interest me as a student. I’m also a true believer in the University of Arizona’s commitment to academic excellence and its responsibilities to the communities it serves.
