Border Beat, launched in spring 2007 by online journalism students and their instructor, Jay Rochlin, offers news, insights and resources for those interested in the U.S.-Mexico border region. Border Beat is one of two online publications produced by UA journalism students. The Cat Scan was offered for the first time in January 2006. That web-based publication features news, features, entertainment, blogs and photos. Border Beat's offerings have ranged from a story on Mexican citizens traveling to Arizona border towns to a profile of a journalism professor who wrote a mystery novel on Mission San Xavier del Bac.
