JOURNALISM STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Council is led by a president who sets the agendas of what goals to address and accomplish at each meeting throughout the semester. Students are encouraged to attend and participate at these meetings in order to have their voices heard. Students who wish to speak about a particular issue at a meeting may send an e-mail to Adviser John deDios.

Some of the issues that the council has addressed in the past years include the Academic Program Fee, the Harelson Excellence in Teaching Award, and the senior exit survey.

Our goals this semester include increasing the student participation, working with the faculty, deciding the allocation of the funds raised by the academic program free and many others. We look forward to hearing what everyone has to say about our goals, the school, and the overall educational experience offered by our school.

Membership to the council is free and open to any student registered in the School of Journalism.

An initiative JSAC launched recently is a professional shadowing program dubbed the Press Cats Shadows Program. Read about it here.
