See "The Killing Fields,” followed by a Q&A with Craig Whitney, former foreign correspondent and Foreign Editor of The New York Times, and Joe Sharkey, adjunct professor at the School of Journalism. Joe and Craig served together in Vietnam, as members of the same US Navy unit. “The Killing Fields” (1984) won three Oscars, and tells the story of journalists trapped in Cambodia during Pol Pot’s bloody ascension.  Sam Waterson plays the late New York Times foreign correspondent Sydney Schanberg, and Haing Ngor is Dith Pran, Schanberg’s assistant.  After successfully escaping Cambodia, Dith joined The New York Times staff as a photographer.
