The School of Journalism works with dozens of media organizations who offer valuable internship experiences to our students. We have determined certain criteria that media organizations must meet for approved internships for credit:
- Interns must be overseen by a trained media professional.
- Interns must meet with this trained professional for no less than 10 minutes every-other-week to receive feedback.
- At the beginning of the internship, interns must be provided with a written list of expectations, including duties and responsibilities
- Fill out this form at the end of the internship period and fax or email to the School internship coordinator.
With the exception of science-writing internships, the School of Journalism does not grant credit for internships in PR, marketing or advertising. Students can earn credit for those types of internship through the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences or the Eller College of Management.
Please contact internship coordinator Renée Schafer Horton if you would like to discuss an internship opportunity for UA journalism students. Here is a document recruiters must read and fill out to have their internship opportunity, if approved, posted on our listserv.
