Hello students!!

We’ve had some great news about some students getting fabulous summer internships! Many of them came about because people applied to listings on this listserv. So, let’s look at what is new this week:

  • A number of new internships
  • An offer to pitch stories to the Star; they have a freelance budget!
  • Some must-read advice in Tips section, especially if you want to go to the IRE conference in Phoenix this June or the SPJ/NAHJ conference in Anaheim in September.
  • A reminder that I will be teaching a 5-week, 1-unit course, JOUR 201A, this fall focused on getting internships and jobs. I highly recommend taking this if you are a current freshman or sophomore, but any and all of you will increase your chances of having your applications considered with what you’ll learn in the class.

FEATURED LISTING:

Hipolito Corella, a senior editor at the Star, said the paper has a freelance budget. He said this is a good opportunity for students to get their work published and get paid. All you need is a good pitch! So that story you’ve been wanting to do? Pitch it to Mr. Corella at hcorella@tucson.com
