There are some fall paid internships I wanted to let you know about (or at least those of you checking email this summer). They are too good to not tell you!
1. Nate Silver’s fivethirtyeight.com is hiring fall interns. Looking for podcast interns and data visualization interns. You’d work with some of the smartest people in the business covering the election! Check out information, requirements and how to apply at link below and then, if interested, talk to me about how to make it work with school:http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/were-hiring-fall-interns/
2. The Las Vegas Review-Journal is seeking enthusiastic, motivated, self-starting visual journalism intern. A junior or senior journalism student, or a recent graduate, will work collaboratively with our photo/video staff. The successful candidate will be able to cultivate sources, produce under tight deadlines, manage long-term features projects and instantly turn around breaking news. We are looking for someone who will go out and find the story, not wait around for an assignment. He or she will be able to turn an inside story into lead art on 1A -- and produce a video at the same time. Active personal social media branding is required. Our organization emphasizes digital presentation, audience engagement and newsworthy, traffic-generating content. Qualifications: Knowledge of Photoshop, PhotoMechanic, Final Cut Pro X and a Content Management System, able to tell a great story visually. Start and end dates for the internship are flexible, but we're looking for someone who's able to work between 16 and 18 weeks through the end of 2016. Interns work 40 hours per week at $12.50 per hour, must have a reliable vehicle and have the flexibility to work nights and weekends when necessary. To apply: Send cover letter, resume and portfolio link to Photo Editor Kevin Cannon at firstname.lastname@example.org Please put Visual journalist intern app in the subject line.
3. Locally, The Institute of the Environment Is Hiring Students for fall positions. IE is seeking UA undergraduate or graduate student applicants for two positions for the 2016–17 academic year: a research assistant to maintain and update the UA’s Green Guides and an environmental science writer to write press releases and feature articles on environmental research and activities. Both positions pay $10–$12/hour depending on experience and are also listed on Wildcat JobLink.
