And now: Internships, scholarships, events and tips for you! Do your future self a favor and READ this entire email.
TIP OF THE DAY: Those of you who have had me edit your cover letters know that I’m constantly telling you it is a why-what-how formation: why I am a journalist and want the internship you are offering; what I’ve done so far to prepare; how my background will benefit you while I am also learning from you. In other words: Tell me a story, make me want to keep reading, don’t burying the lede. It turns out I’m not the only person who thinks this is how you need to write a cover letter. NPR just posted this piece on five things that are probably wrong with your cover letter.Read it and learn.
