About Renée Schafer Horton
Renée Schafer Horton is the internship coordinator for the School of Journalism. Schafer Horton spent two decades in journalism, reporting primarily on the education and religion beats before joining the School as the academic advisor from 2011 to 2014.
Schafer Horton earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Oregon State University with a minor in forestry. She also completed a post-baccalaureate secondary education teacher certification program and taught high school ESL and English literature for a short time. She’s worked in the training of advisers as well as completing a short stint as a writer in the Pima County Communications Office.
