Undergraduate degree: B.A. in Journalism and Gender/Women’s Studies

Hometown: Nogales, AZ

Background/goals: I am a proud Latina and fronteriza born and raised in Nogales, AZ. My experiences growing up bilingual have motivated me to pursue a career in bilingual journalism. My mission is to bridge cultures and languages in order to amplify diverse voices and shed light on untold narratives.

Why UA?: The Journalism School at the University of Arizona was the first place that I truly felt a sense of belonging after moving to Tucson from Nogales. The University of Arizona is my home away from home. I took a bilingual journalism class with Dr. Jessica Retis during my undergrad. It was through this that I found my niche and passion for journalism.
