Qualifications & Requirements

College juniors, seniors and graduate students enrolled in journalism or related degree program as of Nov. 1, 2019, are eligible. Previous newspaper journalism internships and/or experience as a journalist on a college newspaper are preferred. You need to be committed to a career in news journalism. You must have reliable transportation and arrange for your own housing. We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity among its journalism fellows.

Duration & Compensations

June 8, 2020 – Aug. 14, 2020. Our Pulliam Fellows earn $650/week for this 10-week program.

Application Process

You can either apply online or send in the paper application via traditional mail. All materials (electronic or paper) must be sent in between now and Nov. 1, 2019.

You need to include the following for your application:

  • A completed application form. 
  • Samples of your best-published writings, at least half of which were written under deadline.
  • A transcript of your college credits (or have your school send it).
  • A recent photograph of yourself.
  • Three letters of recommendation from people who know the most about you and your work, such as editors, supervisors, teachers, and colleagues.
