An intersection of journalism, digital technology and environmental reporting, The Cat Scan allows students completing their bachelor's degree in journalism to be part of a news team covering some of the most important issues of the day.
In spring 2009, The Cat Scan is focusing on the environment in the Southwest, primarily in Arizona. Students blog about general environmental issues and use all forms of multimedia and emerging Internet technologies to produce breaking news, features and trends/analysis pieces.
The Cat Scan was launched in January 2006 by 15 students and their instructor in the Online Journalism class. It is one of five journalism media courses offered by the University of Arizona School of Journalism.
