Kevin Curran

Adjunct Instructor

Kevin Curran joined the School of Journalism as an adjunct faculty member in Summer 2026. Dr. Curran has taught journalism, communications and business courses at Loyola Marymount University, Park University, Grand Canyon University, University of North Texas Dallas, University of Denver, three colleges at Arizona State University, and Scottsdale, Mesa and Paradise Valley Community Colleges.

Before entering academia, he was a broadcast journalist and manager. In television, he was an assignment editor in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Tucson and Oklahoma City. He was also a segment producer at Inside Edition. His radio work includes producing newscasts heard nationwide on NBC Radio and serving as an operations and sales manager. He was also the Arizona and Nevada state correspondent for the UPI wire service.  

His sports experience started on the Imus in the Morning program on New York’s WFAN. He also assembled the first all-sports station in Phoenix. As a play-by-play producer/engineer, he has been on the Cactus League staff of the MLB Athletics for many years. He has also worked for the Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Lakers. He is currently working with the Wildcats football and men’s basketball teams.

Dr. Curran’s research has won several awards from the Broadcast Education Association and has been published in the Journal of Radio and Audio Media, Journal of Borderland Studies, Journal of Emergency Management and Journalism History. 

He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Oklahoma, an MBA in Management from Arizona State University and a BA in Communications from Fordham University.
