SPORTS JOURNALISM
From the roar of the crowd to the quiet moments post-game, sports are more than just scores. Here, they’re stories.
The Stories Behind the Games
Sports Journalism students report live from the 2026 National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament hosted at the University of Arizona.
Our students build a strong foundation in sports reporting by learning to write clear, compelling coverage of sports figures, events and issues. By working with knowledgeable faculty, students learn to shape stories for multiple formats, from quick recaps to in-depth features, while translating statistics into accessible insights.
Hands-on assignments allow budding sports journalists to sharpen essential skills, such as identifying key sources and conducting interviews in a range of settings, from sidelines and locker rooms to formal press conferences.
Our sports journalism courses prepare students to produce stories across platforms by using social media and capturing photos and video that engage their audience.
