Professional M.A. Partnership with SILLC

Professional M.A. Partnership with School of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SILLC)

The School of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures  (SlLLC) has established partnership agreements between its eight departments and programs (Africana Studies, Classics, Critical Languages, East Asian Studies, French and Italian, German Studies, Religious Studies, and Russian and Slavic Studies) and the School of journalism. SILLC and the School of journalism share a strong commitment to educating future leaders of the new global economy in a world that increasingly requires the highest level of intercultural competence.

As part of this partnership, the SILLC and the School of Journalism allow  graduate students into their respective courses:

  • The SILLC graduate programs participating in this partnership allow their M.A. candidates to count up to 9 units offered in the School of Journalism.
  • The School of Journalism allows its graduate students to count up to 9 units offered by any of the SILLC master's programs (Classics, East Asian Studies, French, German Studies, Russian and Slavic Studies).
  • The  SILLC and the School of Journalism will admit a specific and limited selection of graduate students previously selected by the respective Graduate Selection committees. The GRE or any other admission test requirement will be waived. Each school will have final decision on the maximum number of students admitted (depending on capacity) in its programs per academic year.
  • Graduate students taking courses as part of this partnership in the SILLC disciplines or the School of Journalism will only pay tuition and program fees in their home M.A. program. While graduate students will not be required to pay additional program fees for the 9 units completed in the partner program, they will be required to pay any course-related lab or equipment fees, when applicable.
